TNT Spring Meet

… the TNT SPRING MEET 2007:

Dates: Friday 25th May to Monday 28th May 2007 Inclusive.
Venue: Nottingham, UK

The outline plan:

Friday afternoon / evening – people arrive as and when they can in Nottingham (if they wish to arrive that day) – transportation to wherever we end up providing overnight accomodation will be arranged. Nothing major planned that evening – just meeting people.

Saturday - this will be the main MEET day – planning to get a venue organised for a catered BBQ – hopefully by May we’ll have some nice weather. Note the word – catered – I will NOT be BBQing myself – so it should be OK !! The general idea being to eat, drink, chat and be merry.

Sunday - post-hangover or whatever. Go to the movies to see Pirates of the Caribbean 3 – those that want to. Alternatively, weather permitting, spend some time at one of Nottingham’s nice parks. Evening – was going to suggest a nice pub with some live (but not too loud) music (one that does food obviously).

Monday - open to suggestions.

What I need from you are as follows:

an EMAIL response please to sg2112 AT gmail.com (replace AT with @) indicating:

1) Definitely going to attend OR might attend.
2) Intend to arrive Friday OR Saturday.
3) Day you intend to leave.
4) Whether you need me to include you in my overnight accommodation plans. (I am looking into a number of accommodation options).

I will be seeking firm commitments by the end of March 2007.

Recruitment Policy Updated … Slightly !!

The Guild Officers have reviewed and updated the TNT Recruitment Policy and it has been posted here:

Recruitment Policy 2007 Update

As far as the applicant is concerned the recruitment process is practically the same as before (first 2 steps of the process).

The bulk of the change is to change the administrative process which is the responsibility of the Guild Officers (steps 3 to 8 inclusive). As always though, please feel free to direct any questions to any Guild Officer.

TNT Guild Roster Cleanup is DONE !!

At 747 Characters our membership roster was starting to get hard to manage. There were over 200 characters in the list that had not been in game during 2006 – some not since 2004.

Today, as planned and previously publicised we removed 227 characters from the roster. We captured a list of them before the removal so if any of them should return to EQ then we will be able to reinstate them as full TNT members quickly should they wish that.

All they need to do is contact an officer.

Thank you for reading this.

TNT Guild Roster Tidy-up on Sunday 26th Nov 2006

The guild roster needs a clean out. We have over 700 toons in the roster – but my guess is that over half of them are defunct for one reason or another. I just feel that the roster looks messy with characters on there from 2004 – to new members it might look as though we can’t be bothered to housekeep it and there is a risk, albeit very small, that we might get an ebayed toon turning up in guild on an old member’s toon.

I am going to post this message in 4 places:

1) Website Blog News Item
2) Guild Members Forum
3) MOTD – in Summary form clearly
4) As an in-game email to every TNT character

The process will be as follows:

a) All guild characters not logged into the game in 2006 will be removed – no sanity checking will be done, so any rarely used alts need to be logged in before removal day ** SUNDAY 26th NOVEMBER 2006 **

b) An email will be sent to all guild characters – stating that if they return to the game and find themselves deguilded they need only contact an officer who will be able to reinvite them.

c) A guild roster dump has been taken and linked on the guild website (as a sticky in the officers forum) for officers to check old members wishing to return.

I reckon that this action alone will remove about 150 defunct characters from the roster.

Then we might be able to see the wood for the trees a little bit and do a more intelligent review of the remainder of the roster.

Thank you for reading this,

TNT members are naughty people that play nice !!

TNT officers have been having a number of discussions lately where quite frankly we’ve seen some behaviour in guild that falls a bit below the standards that we would expect of TNT members. Only a couple of issues have been serious which we dealt with individually. Most have been very minor and it would therefore be very wrong to start berating individuals. However, we do think that the time is right for a bit of a refresher on EQ etiquette – so we’ve prepared a document covering the following areas:

  1. Setting up groups;
  2. Behaviour in groups;
  3. Handling loot;
  4. Special events; and
  5. Buffs and rezzes.

All of the officers have made a significant contribution to this document and I am sure that any of them would be happy to answer questions if anything needs further clarification.

TNT EQ Etiquette!

TNT members are naughty people that play nice. This means you:

1. Setting up groups

  • It is better to start a group than it is to go LFG.
  • Tell people of any expected AFKs or time restrictions.
  • Understand that your level may be too high or too low to group with other guild mates online.
  • Declare any “boxed” toon’s you intend to play and how they stand regards loot.
  • Accept the news graciously when asked not to join a group for some reason.

2. In groups

  • If you are unsure of what the challenge entails or how to get there, ask. People will help you along.
  • Listen to your group and adapt to the rhythm of play.
  • Build the pace of the kills slowly so that you get familiar with each other’s style of play.
  • Give advice with care, but take it with gratitude.
  • If you become unhappy with a group, just leave graciously and learn from it.
  • If you need to leave a group early, give as much warning as possible.
  • At the end, thank your group for the fun and any Phat loot!

3. Loot

  • As looter it is your job to ensure that loot is shared fairly.
  • Ensure everyone understands the loot rules. Don’t assume the “normal” rules apply.
  • Generally, expect to allow rolls on all no drop items on the spot, but leave the split and droppable loot at the end.
  • If you leave a group before the end, expect to lose your share of the split. Generally it is accepted that you can roll on any droppable items before you leave.
  • Need before greed is encouraged. However, don’t expect it by default.

4. Special events

  • Before asking for help, make sure you are prepared to help others when it asked of you.
  • Don’t be lazy. Before asking people to help you with something, do your research and be ready to organise or help with the event.
  • Post your needs on the boards in good time and make the event sound like fun! Chose a time that is likely to be attractive to others.
  • Make sure you say a special thank you afterwards, win or lose.

5. Buffs and rezzes

  • Guildies are nice people and will often go out of their way to buff or rez you. However, don’t expect or demand such kindness.
  • Giving is far more rewarding than receiving.
  • If you ask a non-guild member for a buff or rez, offer a donation.

Above all, treat other players as you would have them treat you.

Welcome Lightkeepers !!

Yes indeed welcome Lightkeepers.

I’ll just concisely say, that Zorblag asked me to consider whether TNT could provide a home to the members of LoG. He felt that it was the best decision that he could make to ensure that those of LoG who wanted to stay together could do so in a viable guild. I believe that he felt that the number of active LoG members was getting too low to enable LoG to continue as a viable guild

I was positively inclined to the suggestion, it was something that we had done very successfully before with our friends that came from the Rejected guild. I consulted with our officers and they agreed that it was a positive thing to do both for TNT and for the LoG members.

I’d like to invite Zorblag to perhaps make a post in here to comment from his perspective. Zorblag has joined the TNT officer council – an important part of this process in my view to ensure that our new LoG family members know that they have a voice they know and respect at our council table.

Again, my heartiest welcome to all coming to TNT from LoG.

PS. Apologies for my tardiness in making this post, but real life is keeping me more than busy at the moment.
