Enchanter Hints and Tips
From TNTWiki
This is some general information that I feel is useful to young enchanters out there, it may be useful for other classes too!

Cycle NPC Key
When this key is pressed it will automatically target NPC's in front of you. By continually pressing this key you will cycle through mobs one by one, very useful when you have multiple mobs in camp or when you are switching targets (see Mezzing on incoming). To set this key to something you will remember (I use Q) go into the Options within the EQ window, change the category to Target and look down the list for the cycle through NPC's button. Hit the key you wish to use and then close the window.
One important thing to remember, this will only pick up mobs in front of you if you're in first person mode. If you are in some other camera mode, it will pick up whatever is in the camera's field of vision beginning with the mob closest to the camera's point of origin.
Note: many times when multiple mobs are on the MA the mob being engaged will have been pushed back slightly. This means that if you're behind the MA chances are good the first mob picked up with cycle will be a mob he's not on. This is not always the case though.
Mezzing on Incoming
When mobs are incoming it is important to always assist the Main Assist(MA)to find out which target he is on and then SWITCH TARGETS. This is where the cycle NPC key comes in. There is no point in mezzing the mob the MA is on because he will immediately break it and you will have 2 or more unmezzed mobs in camp. Even if the MA is not pulling a good MA will be assisting the puller in ample time for you to establish his target. I say again get used to assisting and switching, this can take some getting used to but soon becomes habit.
If there's a puller in the group, it's important to find out how the MA picks his targets. Generally there are 2 ways they do this: pick up the first mob that makes it to camp, or assist the puller. If the MA is pulling, he'll generally be on the first mob that's incoming unless there are casters (in which case, you can generally tell they're casting and will be forced to use your assist key to find out what the MA's on). If you can predict what mob the MA's on without using assist, it's possible to use your cycle NPC button to pick mobs for mezing. Less button pushing can sometimes have it's uses.
Casting high Aggro spells
Tash and Slow are 2 very high aggro spells enchanters need to cast in the early stages of the fight. This has to be done but there are ways to minimise how painful this is for the enchanter. DO NOT cast either spell before the MA has engaged the mob, this will give you immediate aggro and can be very painful! Stand next to the MA so that if you do get aggro they can snatch it back quickly without having to chase the mob.
DO NOT ever run around panicking if you have taken aggro from the MA, this means the MA has to chase you and the mob to get aggro back, very inefficient and rarely works!
Resisted Mez!
This will frequently happen, it is a risk you have to take, do you waste time tashing the mob before mezzing in which case it will come straight for you and maybe interrupt your mez spell, or do you risk mezzing without tashing? Different enchanters will deal with this issue in different ways.
- From a personal point of view I learned quickly to mez without tashing. If the mez is resisted you have point blank AE Mezzes or stuns available which should give you a chance to get a tash off and another mez. Always have your highest level ae stun and ae mez in your spell line up for just such emergencies. And of course always have your highest level Rune up.
- When this happens enchy likes to chain cast mez until it sticks without tashing. In the case of a resist, chances are there will only be 1 mob on you so you generally have enough time to get a few more mezes off. I also like to have an emergency insta-cast aa rune up incase the mob gets through my normal gem cast runes. I rarely have ae spells up, but that's a matter of personal preference.
